A varied and very good anthology by the tasteful Miss Merril that imports such new talents as Kyril Bonfiglioli, whose Blast Off transfigures the Crucifixion to a new dimension; Keith Roberts and a Manscarer society whose artists and similar lunatics are exiled to a separate community where they become ""licensed buffoons"" for the pleasure of the state; P. A. Zoline whose tick tick, hour by hour mock-up of a modern sanforized woman climaxes with a breakdown, and Graham M. Hall with a war portrait as war protest. This volume of twenty-eight also includes poetry and familiars Brian W. Aldiss, Hilary Bailey and J. G. Ballard (a multi-major British influence who has really changed his style--from poetic eulogy to pop montage). Ballard's Plan for the Assassination of Jacqueline Kennedy included here, created quite a controversy when it appeared. . . actually it's a well done put down of American image makers.
