THE DAY WILL COME

Love, milk, murder and rock and roll.

Dairy farmer Stella Crown (To Thine Own Self Be True, 2006, etc.) doesn’t plan on murder ruining a rare night out with her boyfriend Nick, her Mennonite barn helper Lucy and Lucy’s soon-to-be husband Lennie, a Harley guy. Before the show, Stella and Lucy meet Philadelphia’s popular Tom Copper Band, whom Lucy has hired to play at her wedding. They’re introduced by Stella’s friend Jordan Granger, the band’s sound man. Stella picks up a few bad vibes, but the show is a hit until someone yells out a bomb warning. Everyone appears to have made it out safely except for (1) Genna, the singer Jordan’s in love with even though she’s evidently hooked up with abrasive drummer Rickie; (2) the club owner’s partner; and (3) gobs of cash. The bomb is discovered, but so is Genna’s body. When the police announce it’s murder, Stella has her hands full trying to keep the brokenhearted Jordan out of jail, preparing for Lucy’s wedding and dealing with the bombshell Nick drops when he announces that he has MS and gives her a chance to exit their relationship. Crushed by Nick’s lack of faith in her love, Stella pushes those troubles aside as she uses her sleuthing skills to find the killer.

Though Stella and her friends often seem an unlikely bunch, Clemens certainly keeps you guessing.
