RABBIT FINDS A WAY

This starts out for all the world like a page from Pooh, with Rabbit on his way to Bear's house, humming as he walks and practicing his acceptance of the carrot cake Bear would offer him: ""Don't mind if I do. . . . Well, if you insist, just one more small piece."" So confident is Rabbit that he passes up Duck's offer of a cherry tart and Squirrel's of a salad lunch, but when he arrives at his friend's house he finds that Bear has slept late and not done his usual Saturday baking. Rabbit solves his problem by getting Bear's recipe and baking the carrot cake (actually, as pictured by Lasker, a whole kitchen full of carrot cake) himself. Delton too is following a recipe here, though as in her Two Good Friends (KR, 1974) she does a competent job of it.
