KIRKUS REVIEW

A murder and a suicide, both involving obscure people, bring drama to an incongruous group of people who live in and near a brownstone house in New York. From the superintendent who shields the buttonmaker who has killed his boss, to the couple whose servant girl commits suicide, to the young architect and s his wife, who is about to have a second baby they can ill afford, drama forces their lives into unexpected cross currents. Interesting in its development, and revealing ability in a newcomer.
