KIRKUS REVIEW

A very full and detailed segment of our Indian history, in the biography of a famous Indian agent, who took over, after the Custer massacre, a post in the Great Plains. Here is the record of his attempt to balance his strong arm methods, his orders from Washington and his real understanding of the Indian character and viewpoint. Not a profound or scholarly biography, but good straight story telling.
