In this book -- designed for the layman -- one sees the steps by which science brought together all its related findings to create what has proved perhaps the most important instrument or device used in the war, as evidenced by the government investing 3 billion during the war years in radar as against 2 billion in the atomic bomb. The contributions made by scientists of other countries -- the teamwork of British and American scientists --the work of the Radiation Laboratory at M.I.T. -- and the wide range of effort contributed by the cooperating industries. Interesting reading made out of one of the war's most closely guarded secrets, with hints of peacetime applications.
