KIRKUS REVIEW

I have in Virginia had more than a local sale. Now comes a sly and humorous book, for the Nichols' market, in which the author gleefully displays human nature in its worst and best aspects in gardening. Mr. Meade gardens in Virginia, is especially interested in broad leaf evergreens, but his trials with his family, with ignorant visitors, with the hopeless Mrs. Hobbs, the omniscient, serious, silly, semi-professional horticulturist, Mrs. Tutwiler -- are universal and amusing. For Garden Club members who can laugh at themselves -- or the other fellow.
