KIRKUS REVIEW

A time tested pattern, adroitly handled, in which an orphan boy changes a grouchy old maid into a human being. Again southern in background -- probably Richmond or vicinity, and good details in the incidents involving the children on the block and their often deliberate efforts to get Miss Couch excited.
