KIRKUS REVIEW

Diamonds Bid is a preemptive entry in the field of intrigue, inordinately intricate. In Which Jonathan Smollett, British, teaching in Ankara (as did Rathbone) gets involved in a political coup d'etat and an attempt to frighten him out of the country by blowing up his mistress and shooting his good friend... Allah, this is for all true believers who do not stop and think, and if dazed, they will also be dazzled by the local sights.
