KIRKUS REVIEW

Hardboiled, fast-paced, and good of its kind. Millner, private detective, is pretty much on the spot with the D.A.'s office and with a client turning on him after a turndown. He horns in on the case of a mutilated corpse to pay off some scores, and is merry-go-rounded by the D.A. office, a group of suspects and a second killing. Double identity is the keynote and Millner lets an arrest go through to spare the killer for suicide.
