Gordon of Gordon Goes Camping stays close to home for five whisper-quiet adventures: First, he lures a bird to nest on his head by imitating a tree; then strikes out in a game of charades by falling to guess Edith ostrich's (?) imitation of a baboon; and, later, has his painting of rain ruined by a sopping wet visitor. In two slightly longer incidents--a hopping contest with a bug and a talk with a scarecrow who startles by answering back--Gordon's inspiration begins to wane. Still, Brinckloe invests her potbellied teddy with an air of quirky soulfulness and her alert rendering of postures and expressions makes Gordon's simplest doings worth watching.
