Hopefully if unjustifiably compared to Beulah Land, Eden's an awful melodrama written in colloquial modern (""get Mama off his back"") to unlikely black illiterate (""string de beans fo' she""). Anyway the time is 1857 when Michael, in order to get his Mama off his back, picks up Vicky in a saloon-brothel in New York and returns with her to Eden as his bride. Actually Michael's a very decent sort--on the side of the slaves which number 300 at Eden, worried about a tainted relationship with his aunt, Ava, the snake in the bluegrass who's finally eliminated by one of the blacks she never hesitated to flog. . . . Fo' she? Who her?
