THE MAGNOLIAS by Julie Ellis

Email this review

Magnolias, like in Eden (1975), bloom with ""searing vividness"" in the nightsoil of the deep South along with every flower you can think of and at least two murders, arson, unsolicited body contact and gambling for high stakes. Jeannie is the victim of two men--one her guardian, the other her husband whom she hoped to love before she thought better of it, until she finds a better man. A miscegnation of every stereotype from ""heah"" to ""deah"" and while you're about it, go wipe your chin.
