THE COMPLEAT BELLY DANCER

Housewives who want to get out of their hot kitchens and elastic girdles and into a homemade fringed bra and harem pants can start off with this programmed series of belly twisters including ethnic exercises like ""The Canadian Air Force Rib Lift,"" ""Traveling in Hippy Circles"" and ""The Garbo Twist."" Despite detailed instructions on how to appear sensuous (""with all the enthusiasm you can muster, you make your entrance""), the mechanics of putting all these separate movements together into Step Master Patterns looks unduly forbidding. If it is possible to learn to shimmy from a book, Mishkin and Schill don't seem to be really serious about teaching it, but their vision of nice ladies undulating before surprised husbands and friends is enough to make us shake with laughter.
