LADY BIRD, QUICKLY

This variant of the ""Lady bug, lady bug fly away home"" rhyme is effectively illustrated by the author. Her stylized technique is geared to a young audience; the beetles, bugs and birds are artistically designed and clearly identifiable. She makes advantageous use of solid colored backgrounds which evoke the mood of dusk in some cases and the sense of excitement and immediacy in others. A bright unusual assembly, of fireflies, cicadas, et al. attends a satisfying ending.
