Another execrable outing for glitter maven Singer (The President's Women, 1988; The Markoff Women, 1986; etc). What's in a name? For Andrianna Duarte (otherwise known as Andrianna DeArte, Ann Sommers, and Anna della Rosa), her aliases are a means of escaping the secrets of her past. She was born in Napa Valley, the illegitimate child of married millionaire Andrew Wyatt. When her mother died, she was bundled off to a series of fancy European schools (courtesy of Wyatt) and then left on her own at age 16 when the libidinous old tycoon died. For the following 20 years, Andrianna has jet-setted around the world, taking on various rich lovers, keeping not only the secret of her past, but another, darker one: the fact that she has lupus, the disease that killed her mother. But one day on the QE II, she meets American tycoon Jonathan West, falls in love, and eventually marries him, without telling him about the lupus--and the fact that the child they both desperately want may inherit the disease. But all's well in the end--with her lupus in remission, Andrianna becomes pregnant, and finally tells West all. Tissue-thin.
