THE KINSEY INSTITUTE NEW REPORT ON SEX: What You Must Know to be Sexually Literate

Reflecting the success of other sex guides, this Kinsey report, unlike the 1948 and 1953 originals, is packaged in trendy Q&A format. But the information--well presented by Kinsey Institute director Reinisch and the Institute's former assistant director, Beasley--is authoritative and so extensive and detailed as to comprise a veritable popular encyclopedia of sexual knowledge. Incorporating data from numerous studies by Kinsey researchers and others (often, Masters and Johnson), the authors map their vast territory into chapters on ""The Male Adult: Inside and Out,"" ""Sex with Partners,"" ""Contraception,"" and so on, with the numerous questions (i.e., ""I am a woman, age 23, with mitral valve prolapse. Is it dangerous for me to have sex?""; ""This may seem like a dumb question, but what exactly is a homosexual?"") and their answers sandwiched between articulate and knowledgeable discussions of the issues at hand. In all, a major work of sexology (which will also include, though not in the galleys submitted for review, the results of a Roper Organization/Kinsey poll on the ""sexual literacy"" of Americans).
