SERVE IT AND SING

This is an odd venture for Knopf -- for it is quite evidently a promotion project for Sell's Liver Fate, and every recipe in the book deals with this commercial product and its uses, -- hot or cold, for sandwiches, canapes, hors d'oeuvres, soups, luncheon dishes, dinner, in aspic and in salad. There are numerous tempting suggestions -- and a great many that struck me as too too fancy for maidless days. But for an out-of-the-groove and highly specialized cookbook, here it is. Only don't recommend it for its ration awareness -- butter (no substitutes) throughout; and with mushrooms at $.9 a pou the repeated use of that delectable trifle seems ostentatious.
