More extensive than the Samuels & Bennett Well Body Book (1973), Dr. Sehnert would also be glad to have you--you, the Activated Patient--know how to use a stethoscope or a sphygmomanometer, as well as have a fully prepared ""Moon Kit"" including Achromycin, a Fleet enema and Seconal; although he doesn't really like sleeping pills or, of course, cigarettes or too much sugar and salt, etc. He's all for yoga, evaluating ""body talk"" (in cases of fever or palpitations) and learning how to monitor your body and the simpler situations which make for unnecessary visits to the doctor. Still you ought to have your own ""Doc Welby"" and there's advice on checking up on him. Then comes ""The Book Within the Book""--36 illnesses and injuries you may be able to take care of yourself, anything from the common cold to cystitis or the chronic conditions like arthritis and emphysema. Naturally you'll be seeing Doc Welby if they're bad enough. All with lists, questionnaires, family health records, free booklets to send for, and dear little dialogues between Dr. Wellbeing and Mrs. Goodperson who hasn't much intelligence up there to take care of her headache.
