The story of a young Italian girl, the little countess Carlotta, brought up in the strict, religious manner of the aristocracy of means. This narrow way of life is discarded when her father dies and her money lost, and she is left to face a modern world for which she is totally unequipped. She realizes that she must shed her inbred, preconceived standards and she becomes a more rounded personality through her trying experiences, an unsuccessful love affair leaving her with a fatherless child. Of slight value, but an authentic picture of the conflict between old and new world values.
