THE ALASKA PILOT

Pub Date: July 5th, 1962

Ace pilot Johnny Cross apprehensively accepts his uncle's offer to fly junkers and piper cubs in the wilds of Alaska. Far from routine, Johnny's missions lead him into one startling adventure after another -- protecting uranium mines from foreign agents, converting his plane to a hospital for ailing Eskimos, literally pursuing the recurrent dream of an Eskimo medicine man to find its realistic aspects, and facing the threat of Alaskan wildlife -- moose, bear and wolves. A strongly developed characterization is often the crucial link of a fragemented plot. Not so in this case. Johnny Cross never gets off the ground.
