ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE by Karl Baarslag

ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE

By

Pub Date: May 18th, 1940
Publisher: Farrar & Rinehart

This book about islands, familiar and, for the most part, unfamiliar, is history, archaeology, exploration, legend, and personal experiences all in one. Baarslag has visited all of them personally, but his accounts of them are varied, sometimes confined to the natives, the scenery -- at other times dealing with old stories connected with the island. Easter Island, the dark island of the Pacific, Cocox, a mythical treasure island, Fort Jefferson-where Dr. Mudd was imprisoned, Tahiti in the South Seas, the Bahamas, Galapagos and the strange story of the mad Baroness who settled there, Juan Fernandez of Robinson Crusoe fame, Pitcairn, these are but a few of the islands which connote both mystery and adventure.
