KIRKUS REVIEW

The first publication in English of a standard handbook for collectors and connoisseurs, this is the fourth edition of Ernst von Bassermann-Jordan's work, completely revised by Hans von Bertele. It is an impressively presented volume, with over 700 pictures and 20 colored plates. The text covers the construction of instruments for measuring and recording time over 3000 years, first by the sun and the stars, but is mainly devoted to the clocks and watches of the past few centuries.
