CHRIST AND ADAM by Karl Barth

CHRIST AND ADAM

By

Publisher: Harper

Any book by as controversial and prolific a theologian as Karl Barth will command attention. Here he devotes his writing to an exegsis and interpretation of Romans 5 in which Paul says that sin and death came into the world with the disobedience of the first man, Adam; but restoration and the promise of eternal life come through Jesus Christ. Berth's exegesis of the chapter is close-packed and difficult to follow by any who are not skilled in this learned art, though the intelligent reader cannot but catch some of the author's strong conviction that because of Christ God's first plan for man cannot finally be undone. Still, the sale of the book will almost certainly be limited to scholars and libraries. It is not ""sermon material"" so the average Protestant minister will probably pass it by.
