Karl Heim is probably German's greatest theologian. He is well known abroad and deserves a far wider public in this country. This book shows the thought and reflection of a life time spent in study, meditation and teaching young men in the great universities. Like Otto's Das Heilige (Idea of the Holy) the book has all the qualities of a great classic and should certainly be recommended reading for all divinity schools and required reading for clergy. It is the first of three volumes now published in Germany. If this is a sample, we shall eagerly await the other volumes -- keep a list of purchasers.
