KIRKUS REVIEW

Light fiction -- fair -- the story of a family in a small town during the depression, with the matriarch, a strong-minded old woman, as the central figure. Quarrelsome, jealous, unimportant people the rest of them seem to be, as one follows their fortunes and misfortunes. The old mother begins her round of living with the children, until the good for nothing returns a prodigal, to reclaim the old home. Women readers primarily.
