GUINEA PIGS NEAR AND FAR

The disarming guinea pig personalities of The Guinea Pig ABC here illustrate words of relationship--physical and personal relationship. At each opening, moreover, is a cartoon sequence of related relationships. One guinea pig rushes down a path AHEAD of another; the two trot ACROSS a dock; the smaller jumps ABOARD a boat as the larger weighs anchor; and the two sail AWAY. Other sequences are closer to actual stories--a caged bird's disappearance and discovery in ""WHERE? THERE NOWHERE HERE!"" But there are always emotional tremors among the guinea pigs as well--illustrated to perfection in the last sequence, when girl guinea pig comes from BEHIND tree, to stand BESIDE young-male guinea pig with cookie box, who finding himself BETWEEN her and another cookie-hopeful, shares the cookies AMONG the lot. Sunny and good-humored, and quirky--as if Duke were making light of the lesson-plan too.
