If one is not too self conscious about the very evident moral purpose behind these little stories of some third grade children, the stories in themselves are matter-of-fact, realistic stories of Butch, who was the worst boy in the class, of Jack who wanted to understand and be friends, of Jane and Ellen -- and of how they all learned what friendship means in sharing and caring.
