KIRKUS REVIEW

.... shines on Chartraine, the old family estate of a modern Baron, with Second Empire notions, which sees him there each summer- along with his daughter Annick who has gratified him with four boys, and the younger Valerie whom he prefers to stay single and at his side. Other members of the family join him in his residence there; a tiresome Tante Isabelle with her daughter whose romance in turn brings on another cousin, Gervais. For Valerie too this proves to be a time for trysting when she falls in love with Gervais, but he encounters the opposition of the Baron until a strayed grandson whom Gervais rescues and recovers brings him Valerie as a reward.... Powderpuff properties here, frail and feminine.
