CRAFTS FOR CHRISTMAS

By

Pub Date: Oct. 2nd, 1974
Publisher: Lothrop, Lee & Shepard

The author of two previous Lothrop craft books, with the collaboration this time of her daughter, provides some general directions for making 50 or so Christmas wreaths, ""trees,"" ornaments, and package decorations out of various natural and throw-away materials. Examples are a clamshell creche (you buy the figures) to hang from the tree, an aluminum foil angel, and -- minimally creative at best -- party drinking glasses decorated with painted holly sprigs. There are also a few recipes for holiday confections, ranging from standard cookies to novelties of gimmicky design. We might not be so hard on the contrived superfluity of it all, were it not for the simultaneous appearance of Meyer's vastly superior offering, reviewed below.
