Between this and Indians of the Longhouse (report on P. 418) you should find all ye need to know about the Iroquois. The author covers a great deal of information concerning the habits, customs, villages, games, clothes etc. of the League of North American tribes. This time the medium for conveying the information is the character of the young boy, Lightfoot, who grows up in the village, hears the stories of the tribe, participates in the activities and finally sets out on the dream fast which will allow him to be a man. Indian matter is always sure-fire with children and this is good material. However, when a character is introduced without becoming involved in any continuous action, we feel that the child may resent the lack of story.
