WITH BELLS ON

A Christmas story with pictures by Katherine Milhous affectionately describes another of the festivals of the author's own historical Pennsylvania. Centered around Chrissly and Becky, the episodes tell how they prepare for Christmas after their brother Jonathan has gone on a journey in a Conestoga wagon, from which they hope he will return in time for their celebration. The children plan to make a putz or manger scene and as they go about their preparations many of the European customs come to light as well as the quiet family faith of the season. Block pictures in rusts and aqua are gay and inspirational. Firm stitching.
