KIRKUS REVIEW

This fits between the picture story book and the read aloud book age groups. So use your discretion in placing it. The brief text tells the story of the successive accidents by which the cherished set of dishes belonging to an Amish family was destroyed. The story is of secondary interest to the sound factual and authentic background of costume and decoration, in the gay, almost stencil designs on every page. The author worked on the Index of American Design in Pennsylvania.
