HENRIETTA, THE FAITHFUL HEN

By

Publisher: Coward-McCann

Splendid nonsense about a conscientious and modest hen and her mistress, written with that appealing delectation of fantastic minutiae children love. Poor Mrs. Fowler was in financial distress, and Henrietta, her hen, felt she must do something. However, although they read hen-books together ""hoping to find the way"" Henrietta could not seem to lay an egg, to help pay the rent. How fame and fortune came to the pair, and how Mrs. Fowler built a magnificent mansion with a swimming pool, bed-making machines, a hot popcorn shooter, while Henrietta raised a fine family in her own castle makes a delightful tale. The dim colors of the author's illustrations, in English reproduction, may be somewhat unpleasing to those used to bright colors, but the drawings themselves are enchanting.
