THE YOUNG TRAVELER IN AUSTRALIA

Following the same pattern, it is the Newsome family this time- Peter, his mother and father (on business) and his sister Anne- who visit Australia and make the rounds from Perth, to Melbourne to Sydney and on to the sheep country and Adelaide before they return to America. It takes them a year- of sightseeing, schooling, odd weather seasons and in some cases actually staying long enough to get the feel of the land and while what they learn is good, there is the impression again that as much as possible has been crammed into the book to make it seem as if they have really ""been to Australia"". As with a large part of this series- the information is there, but lamentably it often reads like a travel guide and perhaps should have been left as such instead of attempting to disguise it in story form.
