KIRKUS REVIEW

A good Elisha Macomber yarn, the setting Penberthy Island (Martha's Vineyard, recognizable to habituees). The victim was everyone's enemy, and virtually the whole cast of fishermen, professionals and amateurs, had it in for him, from the time he stole a swordfish from the Three Sisters. There were several other candidates for murderer as the story is told by Andrea Philbrick, but- for no good reason- the major clue is given in the second line.
