This book"", says the author, ""is addressed to young women who are anxious to, about to, or are married to men of the cloth."" Her purpose is to suggest a way of relating to the task of the ministry, of understanding both the husband, and the life work to which he must be deeply dedicated. In readable prose the author carries the minister's wife or fiancee through chapters which state the problems of keeping a comfortable home on very little money, of raising children in the glare of public attention, with too little fatherly attention, offering excellent advice about becoming deeply involved with one's parishioners, about learning in detail private problems one's husband is counseling (don't), about small things as gift giving, which can cause many heartaches, about large things such as routines before sermon-time, and grooming, with much emphasis on the care, and very little on the feeding, beyond a few sturdy notes about calorie-counting. This slim volume will prove a valuable aid to the young woman in the ministry by marriage, as it can help her set a framework for her own thinking about, and solutions to, the set of problems in which she is, or may find herself embroiled in her own parish.
