Not as big a book as The Venables, but sure to be well up in the rental lists, for Kathleen Norris still writes very remunerative (for all concerned) prose. This is the story of Dina from the wrong side of the tracks, a good girl who slips badly when she falls in love with irresponsible, socialite Vere Holland. His uncle legitimatizes the baby by marrying the girl -- but is not wholly altruistic in the gesture which he thinks will get under the skin of Aline who has jilted him twice. There's a bit of -in-the corner before it is all straightened out.
