KIRKUS REVIEW

With a here-and-now newsy treatment and large, clear photographs, the ways in which the crowded population of Japan draws sustenance from the land and sea makes another worthwhile addition to this series. Besides glimpses at the occupations of the Japanese and a rundown of their products, there is an interesting discussion of the geological history of Japan. Another point ably covered is foreign trade but Japan's role in World War II is mentioned only in passing.
