Katie Louchheim's verse walks lightly on well shod feet. It deals with the transient and the transcendent, the ephemeral and the eternal. There are intimations of immortality and e.e. cummings (""Nobody's Boy"") and the constant questions every person of sensibility conjures. In A Transient View Mrs. Louchheim views the Washington scene political-social, Christmas, the telephone, travel. In Tea By the Fire she turns to the memory of antecedents and progeny, and A.E.S. (""In the landscape of tomorrow's lives,/Portals of peace open at his words""). Deciduous Days includes a memorial to JFK, along with ruminations on summer, creation, life and leath... Poetry which has appeared in McCall's, The Ladies' Home Journal, Diplomat. It is socially accomplished and attractive for just this audience.
