WEE WILLOW WHISTLE

This is such a pleasant looking book- with its excellent format, large clear type, well-drawn uncomplex pictures in line and two color by Winifred Bromhall -- that we wish we could like the text better than we do. It is a staid little story of Ellen, who was four and lived in the country, and of her grandfather (who for all the story tells might be the only relative she has) and the walks they took and the wee willow whistle he made for her on one walk. She's a staid little girl, and her grandfather is a nice, dignified gentleman who comes from the big house to take Ellen walking on snowy country roads. There's nothing here to start the pulses pounding- might do for a small convalescent.
