KIRKUS REVIEW

A collection of short stories by a young Greek girl with a phenomenal mastery of English, these tales are concerned with the ingrown, unspoken relations between a Greek landowner and his peasants--a mother and a son--a pair of newlyweds who go back to the groom's primitive village to live. The author is at her best in stories with a Greek locale, and her dense, close-packed prose style is difficult but rewarding.
