DON'T EVER CROSS A CROCODILE

Rare poetry, Kaye Starbird's work in this little book is comparable in style, point of view, and quality to the poems of A. A. Milne. Eat-It-All-Elaine, tis O'Greetle, the alley cat, Old Jack Sutter, and Minnie Morse are as appealing as Christopher Robin, Beetle, King John and other Milne creations, -- and may even have a slight edge (in some cases) as far as humor goes. The meter is flawlessly ven; the rhymes are never forced. And, the poet's fresh approach to her rhythmic, exuberant world is both comical and sensitive. High praise to the author, who will hopefully follow this -- her second book of verse -- with a third, soon.
