NEW YORK ON THE HOUSE

Three natives have compiled a guide to just about every free New York City event of interest to the resident and the tourist. Beginning with a lucid street map of the city and some advice about where to procure similar guides (gratis, of course) there is a listing of tours, museums, parks, sport areas (cricket fields, cross-county courses, fishing, ice skating, skiing, swimming), historic sites, lectures, and events in the performing arts. The compilation which the editors call Miscellaneous Services is of particular interest: includes a rather well known men's clothing store only too glad to on a missing button, remove a stain or provide one shoelace. No payment required. There is every indication that Denholtz, Kayton and Kirschman have really sampled each listed event. In reference to admittance to the American Numismatic Museum one of the trio writes: ""You might have to wait a few minutes to gain admittance after ringing the bell"". An occasional nominal fee mars its consistency, but on the whole this little guide book should do very well indeed.
