This autobiography of a Bulgarian revolutionary, statesman and diplomat is in effect a panorama of modern history in its immense scope. His amazing career of continuous activity in behalf of the people's freedom not only in the Balkens but throughout Europe is almost too much to be fully taken in. His story begins in the early part of the century when he volunteered with the Chetniks in the fight against the Turks and ends with his present work in the organization of free Bulgarians toward the establishment of post-war Balkan democracy and unity. High in official circles, he worked in many European countries -- was in a position to give interesting impressions of Hitler, and Franco at the start of their careers. Unbelievable as it may seem that one man's work should cover the whole course of events in Europe during this century, the book is still essentially personal in point of view and narrative, vivid as well as instructive.
