R.A.F. Story of a British Fighter Pilot

Written in the form of a diary-journal, kept by a pilot who is a composite of a group of young officers of the R.A.F. known to the author, himself a bomber pilot of World War I. It covers the period after Dunkirk, through October 1940. Emphasis is on angles of styles of fighting, planes, emotional response to the life of incessant serial action. No mention of fear, though jittery nerves are common enough. The stories of his squadron, leader and men and deeds, is based on real reports. Ayling vouches for the authenticity of the stories even down to the radio conversations included. There's a true ring to the telling -- and it's inspiring reading.
