THEY FLY FOR VICTORY

This is virtually a history of aviation in war and peace, through brief biographical bits about famous -- and less famous --fliers, ground men, scientists, experimenters, inventors, military and commercial and civilian fliers -- up to today. There are names known to all -- and names that should be better known, British, American, French, etc. The emphasis is on the British -- from the first World War aces to the present war aces, with the changing types of planes and changing uses. For anyone already profoundly interested in aviation, this is a good human overall picture, but it is not an introductory book -- it presumes too much background.
