This is a book of more permanent significance, perhaps, than his delightful photograph sequences (Vermont Is Where You Find It and The Vaine Idea), but it shows an equal felicity of selection of photographs, and a skillful choice of phrases from the speeches of such varied people as De Gaulle, Chiang Kai Shek, Churchill, Stalin, Roosevelt, Wallace, Welles, Mackenxie King, Herbert Evatt, Walter Nash, Noel Baker and Plater Gerbraudy -- so linked that they read almost as a continuity, pointed up by their relation to the photographs. The book is subtitled ""Text and Pictures of the United Nations"".
