KIRKUS REVIEW

Accent on dec (Scots) and detail (psychiatric) for a slow keyed story of truancy, intimidation, and Nazi infiltration, Peter Dunbar, working under the guidance of Basil Willing, his C.O., eventually gets the answer to the runaway attempts of Johnny Stockton, adopted war victim, the evasive conduct of a former Fascist, now in hiding, and a double murder. Niceties of narrative and odd angles add up to a smoothly sustained job.
