THE STOLEN SPRUCE

Maine Woods background a disputed timber plot mystery that is levelled at first year highschool readers but so simply written that eleven year olds will tackle it with ease. Threatened with the loss of their farm, fourteen year old Tom Weldon and his mother find that establishing their rightful ownership of some valuable spruce land, which the renegade lumberjack Baptiste Lavigne has claimed as his, will be the only way to keep them in their beloved Maine. Old timer surveyor Angus McNabb comes to the rescue, and with the help of Tom and his friend Mark, Baptiste and cronies are caught in a few weeks bout of woodcraft and detecting that climaxes in a rough and tumble campsite fight.
